sylvester stallone-2-820x1024The character Green Beret "John Rambo" was created by Canadian novelist David Morrell, and his novel was made into a screen, with Stallone in the lead role for First Blood (1982), with Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy. It was an unexpected hit and polarized the public because it dealt with the Vietnam war, which was a topic that was fresh in American minds. This film, in spite of its political views and its international appeal, became a huge hit. The sequel called Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), took place. It received more criticism due to its theme that suggested American MIAs were held by the government of Vietnam. But they say there is not a bad thing in publicity. And "John Rambo's" second film was an important moneymaker for Stallone and cemented him as one of the biggest male stars of the 1980s. Riding a wave of amazing success, Stallone called on old sparring partner Rocky Balboa to climb back to the ring to defend American honor against a Soviet danger in the form of a huge Russian boxer dubbed "Ivan Drago" which was played by the curt Dolph Lundgren. Rocky IV (1985). Even though the movie, titled "Rocky" movie was not a hit, it caused controversy was a snub among "Rocky" fanatics due to of its excessive violence, particularly when compared with previous films. The evidence is clear in the brutal beating that Apollo Creed (played by Carl Weathers) was subjected to at the brutality of the "Siberian Express".
